I'm not usually a fan of legislation. We have plenty of laws. Someone ought to be going through them figuring out which laws we can get rid of. I mean, we really have some rediculous laws on the books. I'm also interested in personal responsibility. Did you slip and fall on the ice? Don't sue the owner of the side walk, just watch where you're going. We all slip on ice in the winter. Are you overweight? Don't sue McDonalds, stop eating there and/or excercise. Well, even with my stance on creating more laws, I was thrilled to see this law proposed. Basically, it would ban lawsuits against fast food companies for causing obesity. They just plainly state that the cause is from a sedentary lifestyle. They then compared it to smoking, and offered this gem of a quote:
Heh... second-hand eating.. that's a classic :-) Anyhow, I'm glad to hear this, maybe that will put an end to some silly lawsuits. |
