At our last Linux get-together, we had a discussion on the fact that Redhat
skipped 8.1, and went straight to 9 for the version number of their next
distribution. Not 9.0, but 9. I was amused to see that RedHat had posted it's
top 10 reasons on
Why they "dropped
the dot". There is one other theory that came up at our Linux meeting, that didn't show up on RedHat's top ten list. Perhaps the reason that they jumped straight to 9 is because it's not stable enough to be a .1 release ;-) |
